Job description

CUMULUS MEDIA | Dallas, TXis hiring a Systems Engineer.� The Systems Engineer will be directly responsible for the design and maintenance of IT systems and infrastructure including, but not limited to, server environments, virtual machines, telecom systems, networking and backups while proactively utilizing monitoring tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. The Systems Engineer will provide support to end users and system owners including problem identification, resolution and if needed, escalation to third party support vendors .
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide analysis and recommendations to streamline operations while striving to improve reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with key technologies
  • Configure and test various equipment for production rollout
  • Configure routers, switches, firewalls
  • Assist others with technical anomalies and resolve issues
  • Handle emergency situations in calm and scientific manner
  • Occasional travel on both scheduled and emergency basis
  • Rotating �on-call� status requiring availability both via cell phone and physical access to the network within two-hours
  • Document IT systems
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Five years� experience in network administration
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision

Training or Certifications Required:
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills required
  • Continuing education to maintain knowledge on the latest systems and technology

  • VMWare and Hyper-V Virtualization
  • Internet Security: Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Services, NAT, Policy Routing, DMZ, VPN (IPSec, L2TP)
  • LAN/WAN architectures including Ethernet, Spanning Tree, ISL and Point to Point Circuits.
  • ASP.Net, .Net Core application hosting
  • Understanding of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, HSRP and network-based ACL's
  • Experience with packet level network troubleshooting
  • SNMP monitoring systems and alarming
  • Enterprise backup strategies including tape, off-side and disk backups to ensure data integrity
