Job description

Job Title: Sr. Systems Engineer Location: Hanscom AFB Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: Negotiable to $165K Contractor Work Model: Onsite Security Clearance: Secret

Responsibilities

  • Apply broad theoretical and practical knowledge of system engineering to the acquisition process.
  • Conduct reviews on program portfolio to evaluate, recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to ensure subsystem and system performance in accordance with specifications.
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, and design/test results ensuring subsystem and system performance meet program specifications.
  • Prepare technical documents defining, specifying, and recommending system/subsystem characteristics.
  • Create management reports and deliver technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions using engineering economy principles.
  • Validate systems through development of criteria and procedures.
  • Analyze and evaluate results of major engineering systems.
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and training to support various programs and initiatives including acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, and operations oversight.
  • Support program and project risk management activities in compliance with Air Force SEAM processes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering.
  • Master’s degree in a related field; additional experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, storage platforms, and system architecture.
  • Experience across all stages of the system development life cycle from initiation to deployment and sustainment.
  • Proficiency with process modeling and workflow diagram development.
  • Ability to elicit and interpret requirements, translating them into technical specifications and system designs following best practices and design patterns.
  • Expertise in problem/gap definition, trade space analysis, science and technology roadmap analysis, “Set based design,” MODA, and cost vs. capability trade-off analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to management, staff, and end-users.
  • Experience with engineering practices, techniques, and standards.
  • Strong technical presentation skills and ability to communicate complex data visually.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and understand project strategies and tactics.
  • Must hold a current Secret security clearance.
