Job description


Currently recruiting afull-time Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room for William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) located on Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct perioperative nursing care to surgical patients at WBAMC. This role supports pre operative, intra operative, and post operative phases of care while coordinating closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical support staff in a high acuity military medical environment. The works schedule is a rotational inpatient schedule;may include Panama or alternating shifts (e.G., 36/44 hours) based on ward mission, ensuring no more than 80 hours per pay period.
Job Responsibilities of the Operating Room RN:
  • Deliver comprehensive perioperative nursing care using established nursing standards and WBAMC protocols
  • Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring correct patient, procedure, and surgical site verification
  • Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and emotional well being throughout the surgical continuum
  • Administer medications and document care accurately in electronic medical records
  • Act as a liaison between the surgical team, patients, and families
  • Respond to emergent and life saving situations in accordance with clinical protocols
  • Support infection control, sterile technique, and patient safety initiatives
  • Participate in briefing, time out, and debrief processes as required
Job Qualifications of the Operating Room RN:
  • Active, unrestricted RN license (U.S. State or territory)
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, BSN, or Diploma)
  • English language proficiency and EMR competency
  • Operation Room Nurses shall have completed an operating room nursing course
  • Minimum of one year within the last two years as a full-time operating room nurse in a surgical center or hospital operating room.
  • Certified in BLS for Healthcare Providers, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
