Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room/Surgery

The Registered Nurse, in the operating room specialty, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of the relevant aspects of patient care situations. This role includes the provision of routine and complex nursing care, focusing on long-term goals and plans, while effectively managing contingencies in clinical nursing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet expectations of applicable competencies, including leadership in nursing practice.
  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families in accordance with their level of practice.
  • Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness.
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided.
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.
Job Requirements: Education/Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the operating room nursing specialty is preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
  • BLS certification is required (AHA only).
  • ACLS certification is required (AHA only).
  • PALS certification is required (AHA only).
  • Registered Nurse License in the state of Texas or compact state is required.
Work Schedule:

The preferred shift is from 10 AM to 10 PM, with flexibility for alternative shifts of 11 AM - 11 PM or 12 PM - 12 AM. Options for work schedules include 4x10s or 3x12s.
