Job Details
Position Summary: Individual with knowledge and expertise in all peri-operative specialties, who is responsible for assisting in the procurement and control of materials and equipment necessary for the functioning of the department.
Responsibilities
  • Requisition supplies necessary to complete the daily assignments of the surgical area.
  • Controls operating room inventory. Makes regular rounds in the surgical suite and of speciality carts to anticipate outdated inventory.
  • Maintains inventory PAR levels current keeping inventory current and rotated.
  • Provides for the repair and prepares return goods memo for items received with hidden damages.
  • Notifies OR Materials Manager of obsolete inventory.
  • Arranges storage space in an orderly fashion for delivery of supplies.
  • Provides for the emergency needs of the department with reference to materials procurement.
  • Collaborates with various departments of the hospital to ensure quality and safety of all supplies used within the department.
  • Assists staff in providing in service programs relative to the use of materials and particularly new equipment.
  • Assists in conducting evaluations of new products to promote quality patient care and cost containment.
  • Implements systems that facilitate inventory exchange.
  • Assists in the education of the staff in the use and care of equipment and supplies to insure proper economic and efficient utilization.
  • Files traveling requisitions by manufactures and purchase orders when products have received with packaging slips.
  • Serves as an Operating Room Department Representative on committees as designated by the OR Materials Manager, particularly hospital evaluation and standardization committees.
  • Participates in accreditation and audit processes as designated by the OR Materials Manager.
  • Complies with accreditation, regulatory bodies, commissions and Hospital Policies and Procedures in relation to the Operating Room.
  • Attends all safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, departmental service safety and specific job-related hazards.

Qualification:
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with Operating Room materials management and/or purchasing
  • Strong business acumen and communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Posted Salary Range
USD $26.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
