Job description

Operating Room (OR) Nurse

Location: Colorado West Healthcare System d/b/a/ Community Hospital, Grand Junction, Colorado

Hours: Monday through Friday with weekend on-call requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in the Operating Room, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients and their family members to alleviate concerns and ensure understanding.
  • Ensure necessary supplies and equipment are readily available for each surgical procedure.
  • Administer prescribed medications in accordance with approved nursing techniques and protocols.
  • Maintain continuous focus on the surgical procedure in the assigned operating room.
  • Assist with room turnover, including cleaning and returning supplies, instruments, and equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise and contribute to advancing perioperative nursing practices by staying informed of current research and trends in the specialty.

Requirements:

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Colorado.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or equivalent) from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience and training in nursing.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as an Operating Room Nurse.
