Operating Engineer 3s require advanced knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and a high school diploma or equivalent, often supplemented by specialized training or certifications. Familiarity with equipment like cranes, bulldozers, and excavators, as well as proficiency in using diagnostic and safety systems, is vital.
