Description
Martin Marietta is seeking a Mechanic to join our team at the Maple Grove Maintenance Facility. This position will be responsible for the safe and efficient repair of a wide variety of mobile equipment, including Tractors/trailers, Skid loaders, Dump trucks, Water trucks, and Various industrial equipment and machinery. This is a union position, and membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49 is required.
Essential Functions
  • Maximizing the performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
  • Performs fabrication and repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Perform DOT inspections for mobile equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues for various types of equipment.
  • Repair or replace faulty components, such as brakes and brake components, emission components, fuel, and fuel system components etc...
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Aides in the training of co-workers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience
  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role
  • Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Strong organizational skills, including planning, scheduling, prioritizing, and record-keeping.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and in elevated work areas.
  • Able to use a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.
  • Able to adhere to MSHA & OSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Class "A" Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) driver's license.
  • Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production.

Work Environment
This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove, Minnesota - 75% in a shop setting, 25% in the field/outdoor.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to feel, or handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position at a minimum of 40 hours per week and may require overtime as needed.
We are excited to share the base salary rate for this position is $30.84 - $48.06. Conditions and terms of employment and benefits are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 49.
