Job Summary:

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Ripsaw Operator Assistant to support the efficient operation of ripsaw machines in our production facility. The Ripsaw Operator Assistant will assist the Ripsaw Operator with setting up, operating, and maintaining the ripsaw machinery, ensuring smooth workflow, and adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Production: Support in monitoring the machines performance during operation, ensuring that materials are being cut accurately and efficiently.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload raw materials (wood, plywood, etc.) onto the machine and remove finished products from the machine. Ensure proper handling to avoid damage. Operate forklift as needed.
  • Load/Unload Trucks: Assist in loading and unloading trucks of raw material and finished products.
  • Quality Control: Assist in inspecting finished products for adherence to quality standards, reporting any defects or inconsistencies to the Ripsaw Operator.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Keep the work area clean and organized by sweeping, removing debris, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Routine Maintenance: Help with basic cleaning and maintenance tasks on the ripsaw and surrounding equipment, including oiling and checking for wear and tear.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety guidelines by assisting in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a safe working environment at all times.
  • Assist in Troubleshooting: Aid the Ripsaw Operator in identifying and resolving issues during operation to minimize machine downtime.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in recording production logs, material usage, and other necessary data accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing, woodworking, or production environment is preferred but not required.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials (40-50 pounds) as needed.
  • Forklift Operation: Previous experience with forklift operation preferred but not required.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot defects and ensure the quality of materials and finished products.
