Area Director of Finance - Peregrine Hospitality Central Coast Collection
Position Summary
Area Director of Finance provides strategic financial leadership and operational oversight for a portfolio of five to eight hotels. This position partners with Regional Operations, General Managers, and shared service accounting teams to maximize profitability, ensure compliance, improve controls, and support asset value growth.
This position oversees hotel accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, labor management, cash flows. Hotels are a mix of branded and independent boutiques.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
  • Oversee financial operations for an assigned portfolio of hotels.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial statements, variance reports, and KPIs.
  • Drive EBITDA improvement and GOP margin performance.
  • Partner with Operations leadership on revenue optimization and expense control.
  • Provide strategic financial recommendations to executive leadership and ownership groups.

Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead annual operating budgets and capital planning processes.
  • Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Analyze labor productivity, departmental flow-through, and cost containment opportunities.
  • Monitor hotel performance against budget, forecast, STR, and ownership expectations.

Accounting & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, brand standards, management agreements, and ownership reporting requirements.
  • Oversee month-end close process and financial statement accuracy.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and internal controls.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal tax requirements.

Hotel Operations Partnership
  • Work closely with General Managers and Directors of Operations.
  • Support labor management initiatives and productivity benchmarks.
  • Assist with contract negotiations, purchasing controls, and expense reviews.
  • Evaluate operational efficiencies and profitability opportunities.

Cash Management
  • Monitor hotel cash flow and banking relationships.
  • Review accounts receivable aging, collections, and AP processes.
  • Manage working capital and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Oversee owner distributions and lender reporting requirements.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 7-10+ years of hotel accounting/finance experience.
  • Multi-property hotel finance experience strongly preferred.
