What You’ll Do  

  • Recruit, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline finance employees in ensuring that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for department operation.  

  • To assist the Director of Finance in the administration of all financial aspects of the hotel's operation. 

  • Meet with the Director of Finance on a regular basis to communicate all accounting activities and results of the accounting office meeting or any other related issues. 

  • Prepare financial statements, accruals and journal entries, maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats, and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 

  • Ensure that monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts are prepared and all bank reconciliations are countersigned by Director of Finance on a monthly and on a quarterly basis; Director of Finance approves all reconciliations paying special attention to reconciling items. 

  • Monitor and control expenses of the hotel paying special attention to the daily reporting and addressing issues that not only have material effects but also affect the guest experience. 

  • Ensure all invoices are properly allocated to their respective budgets.  

  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and assist in other areas of the accounting office as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a luxury hotel or hospitality setting. 

  • Working technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and job knowledge of all positions in Accounting, Purchasing and Food and Beverage control.  

  • College degree preferably specializing in accounting and/or hotel/restaurant management or equivalent experience is required. 

  • Excellent understanding of Month-End Process including, but not limited to, preparation of financial statements, accruals and journal entries, maintain reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. 

  • A dynamic leader, with proven leadership skills, who can manage the day-to-day operation of the Finance department. 

  • Highest level of integrity and transparency 

  • Must have strategic, analytical, and solid business acumen. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare and deliver reports, effective presentations and to facilitate meetings 

  • Highly responsive and collaborative, a team player who approaches work without ego 

  • Experience in Opera, Micros, Simphony, Oracle NetSuite, Yellow Dog, Paylocity, Book 4 Time, and Peoplevine Systems knowledge is preferred    

  • Have experience working with and creating Excel spreadsheets and other Microsoft Office products
