Opc Modeling Engineer information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OPC Modeling Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an OPC Modeling Engineer, you need a strong background in semiconductor physics, computational modeling, and a relevant engineering or science degree. Expertise in OPC software tools like Mentor Calibre or Synopsys, along with experience in scripting languages such as Python or Perl, is typically required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective cross-functional communication are vital soft skills for this role. These skills ensure precise photolithography models, efficient design-to-manufacturing processes, and seamless collaboration with design and fabrication teams.

What is the difference between Opc Modeling Engineer vs PCB Design Engineer?

AspectOpc Modeling EngineerPCB Design Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related, knowledge of OPC standardsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or PCB Design certifications
Work EnvironmentSemiconductor fabrication, EDA tool developmentElectronics manufacturing, product development
Industry UsageSemiconductor industry, IC manufacturingConsumer electronics, industrial equipment
Common Search/ComparisonYesNo

Opc Modeling Engineers focus on creating models for optical proximity correction in semiconductor manufacturing, working closely with EDA tools and chip fabrication. PCB Design Engineers develop printed circuit boards for electronic devices, emphasizing layout and electrical integrity. While both roles require electrical engineering knowledge, they serve different stages of electronic product development and are used in distinct industry segments.

What are some common challenges faced by an OPC Modeling Engineer when working with new process nodes?

OPC Modeling Engineers often encounter challenges such as adapting to the increasing complexity of advanced process nodes, where feature sizes become smaller and patterning requirements grow more demanding. Accurate model calibration becomes more time-consuming, requiring close collaboration with lithography, process, and design teams. Additionally, integrating new materials and technologies can introduce unforeseen variables, making continuous learning and flexible problem-solving essential for success in this role.

What is an OPC Modeling Engineer?

OPC Modeling Engineers are specialists who develop, calibrate, and maintain optical proximity correction (OPC) models used in semiconductor manufacturing. These engineers work to improve the fidelity of photolithography processes by simulating and correcting distortions that occur when transferring circuit patterns onto silicon wafers. Their expertise helps ensure that microchips are fabricated with high precision and yield, enabling the continued advancement of smaller and more complex semiconductor devices. OPC Modeling Engineers typically collaborate with process engineers, software developers, and design teams to optimize and implement OPC strategies.

Job description

As an Ignition Engineer at EOSYS, you will be working with small, multi-disciplinary teams to develop Ignition-based solutions for our manufacturing clients. Applications range from standalone SCADA applications to full-scale MES/MOM applications across multiple facilities. EOSYS is a member of the Inductive Automation Integrator Program, and we are rapidly growing our Ignition customer base.
Ignition projects typically range from a few weeks up to 6 months. On some projects, you will also be a part of the project commissioning team that goes onsite to the client. This allows you to see the "fruits of your labor" while also getting to experience unique manufacturing environments such as robotics, automotive assembly, hummus packaging, and even whiskey making. Based on your capabilities and interest, there will be opportunities to learn new skills and technologies as well as advance within the company.
This position operates under a hybrid work model based out of our Middletown, OH office. The role requires a regular, routine onsite presence for face-to-face collaboration, team meetings, and hands-on projects, combined with the flexibility of partial remote work. Additionally this position requires up to 10% travel to client sites regionally and throughout the continental US.
Requirements
  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical)
  • 5+ years' experience configuring and developing applications using Ignition (by Inductive Automation)
  • Skilled in Python, Jython, C#.NET, web technologies and SQL
  • Experience with Ignition Vision and Perspective development environments
  • Up to 10% travel

Nice to have
  • Experience with React, TypeScript and AI Development
  • Experience with OPC UA and MQTT
  • Experience with Ignition Edge, MES and IIoT connectivity
  • Experience with databases (SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, MariaDB, MongoDB)
  • Basic knowledge of PLC tag structures and communications
  • Familiarity with working in a manufacturing environment
  • Commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with PLC and Controls Systems
