Position: Online Technical Tutor (STEM / FAA Courses)Location:
Remote (U.S.-based or approved international support), supporting FAA users nationwideJob Type:
Part-Time / On-DemandJob Summary
The Online Technical Tutor provides one-on-one, on-demand tutoring support to FAA Airway Transportation System Specialists (ATSS) in advanced technical subject areas, including mathematics, electronics, antennas, transmission systems, and Instrument Landing Systems (ILS). Tutoring is delivered through a web-based platform and supports FAA training programs designed to prepare personnel for technical operations roles.Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in:
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or related)
    • Physics or closely related technical field
  • OR:
    • Valid teaching certification in a relevant technical subject
  • Demonstrated proficiency in:
    • Algebra, trigonometry, logarithms
    • Electronics fundamentals (Ohm's Law, AC/DC circuits)
    • RF systems, antennas, or transmission lines (preferred)
  • Ability to use web-based tutoring tools (video, chat, whiteboard, file sharing)
  • Strong communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
  • Availability during:
    • Monday-Friday, 0700-1530 Central Time
Responsibilities
  • Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions (up to 60 minutes per session) via online platform
  • Assist students with course materials through:
    • File uploads (PDF, DOC, images, etc.)
    • Real-time problem solving using whiteboard/drawing tools
  • Provide instruction in FAA technical training subjects, including:
    • Mathematics refresher topics
    • Environmental/electronics concepts
    • Antennas and transmission lines
    • Instrument Landing Systems (ILS)
  • Record and document all tutoring sessions for archiving and review
  • Provide feedback on student performance and learning progress
  • Maintain professional communication with students and program staff
  • Support scheduled and on-demand tutoring requests
  • Participate in performance evaluations and quality assurance processes
