Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Biology Student Lab Assistant- Institutional Student Worker on the Oconee campus. We are seeking candidates who are able to follow protocols and adhere to safety rules, reliable (maintains work schedule with few to no missed shifts), and motivated to work (moves to the next task without being asked or reminded).
Must have availability Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor laptop updates.
  • Wash lab dishes.
  • Assist with setup/breakdown of lab experiment materials and equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Flush emergency eye washes and emergency showers in labs weekly.
  • Assist with the care and culturing of live bacteria, fungi, plants, and some small bugs.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Must be able to use step stools/ladders repetitively, and reach bottom shelf of cabinets repetitively.
  • Must be able to stand for various periods of time, up to one hour.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
  • No prior experience required; training will be provided.
