Job description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Student Navigator position in the Student Engagement division. This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's Main campus, just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Success & Special Initiatives, the Full-Time Student Navigator will be responsible for coordinating and implementing focused student support services and interventions to help students persist in their program of study. The Student Navigator gathers statistical information and develops strategies to retain new and continuing students, and provides services which include academic advisement, academic progress review for traditional, online, and hybrid students, referral to support services, and coordination of retention efforts for at-risk students.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with cross-functional teams across the college to facilitate advisement, academic progress review, and the implementation of innovative retention programs and services for new, at-risk, and enrolled students.
  • Provide information on targeted career and educational pathways.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver supportive services that promote academic persistence and success.
  • Monitor student attendance, performance, and academic progress; provide outreach in response to TEAMS alerts.
  • Coordinate referral services with relevant college departments and community agencies.
  • Attend academic advising training, as well as department and division meetings.
  • Coordinate, track, report, and utilize retention data, research, and analysis using Target X, Banner, KMS, and other resources to identify obstacles to student achievement and retention.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement targeted intervention services, programs, and initiatives focused on student retention and development.
  • Draft and track targeted communication campaigns.
  • Function as part of an early alert team to support student persistence and retention.
  • Train faculty and staff on student retention services, support, and processes.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to expand knowledge of the Student Navigator role and improve counseling resources, strategies, and college policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the TCSG Student Navigator peer group.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs (Target X/Salesforce, Banner, LMS, KMS)
  • Effective human services skills, including coaching, mentoring, motivation, and tracking
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with the public
  • Data analysis skills, including the ability to develop data visualizations and reports

Minimum Requirements:

Must possess and demonstrate a Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or a related field

AND a minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience in a college setting.
