Singing River Hospital functions as a level 3 Trauma Center, ensuring that patients benefit from a robust healthcare system featuring experienced physicians and cutting-edge treatment alternatives. Our offerings encompass inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic services, emergency treatment, as well as medical and surgical procedures, all delivered in a patient-centered atmosphere. Our dedicated care team comprises trained medical professionals, proficient nurses, and compassionate support staff and volunteers, all collaborating to deliver exceptional patient care in a professional yet personal setting.

MEDS is now an affiliate of Georgia Emergency Department Services, the largest democratic EM group in GA. MEDS is an independent, democratic/physician owned group, and services the ED contracts of Singing Rivers Health System (SRHS), which has been in operations for 50 years.

MEDS/SRHS:

  • 3 hospitals: Gulfport, Ocean Springs, and Pascagoula hospitals
  • Combined volume: 100k+ ED visits a year
  • Combined IP rate: 12.5%
  • Combined PPH: 2.2 (goal of 2 with increased staffing)
  • Primary stroke/L3 trauma/STEMI center, SANE exam 24/7, crisis intervention program
  • Specialties: general surgery, obstetrics/gyn, pediatrics, psychiatry, cardiology, gastro, ENT, critical care, endocrine, nephrology, neurology, orthopedics/spine, pulmonology, radiology, urology
  • EMR: EPIC/dragon
  • Shift length: 8h, 10h, and 12h
  • Staffing model: combo of doc and APPs. APPs work collaboratively with docs managing lower acuity patients independently and co-manage moderate and higher acuity with the docs
