Job description

The Training & Operations Support Specialist is a field-based, travel-focused member of the Friedman Training Department responsible for supporting employee development, onboarding, performance improvement, and operational consistency across the multifamily portfolio. Working closely with onsite teams, Regional Managers, and corporate departments, this role delivers hands-on training, coaching, and operational support to reinforce company standards, facilitate new hire integration, and ensure the effective application of organizational systems, policies, and procedures. Through direct engagement with property teams, the specialist helps employees build confidence, enhance performance, and contribute to a culture of learning and operational excellence across the organization.

This position requires the ability to work at our Corporate Headquarters when not traveling; candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance toย Farmington Hills, MI.

Responsibilities

Training & Employee Development

  • Serve as a field representative of the Friedman Training Department by providing onsite coaching, support, and training reinforcement to property teams.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for newly hired Community Managers, Assistant Community Managers, Leasing Consultants, and Maintenance Team Members.
  • Deliver and reinforce Training Department programs, initiatives, and operational standards throughout the portfolio.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and support to employees as they learn company systems, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Assist with new hire transitions and continued employee development efforts.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 75โ€“100% of the time based on business needs.
  • Frequent travel throughout Friedmanโ€™s nationwide portfolio.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to stay overnight and travel for multiple consecutive days when supporting properties, onboarding employees, training initiatives, or special projects.

Operations Support

  • Travel to properties across Friedmanโ€™s portfolio, including nationwide locations, to deliver operational support and training.
  • Support properties through staffing transitions, leadership changes, acquisitions, software rollouts, and special projects.
  • Help onsite teams address daily operational challenges while maintaining consistency and accountability.
  • Reinforce company processes and standards set by corporate leadership and the Training Department.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and communicate operational challenges to leadership.

Systems Training & Support

  • Train employees on company systems, including Yardi, CRM IQ, Aspire, Procure to Pay, HappyCo, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Provide clear guidance on system navigation, workflows, and troubleshooting.
  • Support software implementations, updates, and process changes through hands-on training.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate training initiatives, process updates, and operational changes to employees.
  • Provide field feedback on training gaps, recurring challenges, and employee development opportunities.
  • Maintain a professional and positive image while representing the Friedman Training Department.
  • Support departmental projects and company initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of multifamily property management experience required, with prior roles such as Leasing Consultant, Assistant Community Manager, Community Manager, or Regional Support preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of leasing, resident relations, collections, renewals, move-ins/move-outs, retention, and daily operations.
  • Experience training, coaching, or mentoring employees is a plus.
  • Proficiency with property management software, along with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and effectively facilitate group and one-on-one training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple properties or working in a regional support capacity.
  • Yardi, CRM IQ, Aspire, HappyCo, Procure to Pay, or similar platforms.
  • Adult learning experience or relevant certifications.
  • Experience assisting with property transitions, acquisitions, new property onboarding, or operational rollouts.
  • Experience supporting software implementations and change management initiatives.
  • Knowledge of multifamily compliance requirements and industry best practices.
  • Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and online learning platforms.
  • Experience creating documentation, job aids, process guides, or operational resources.
