Senior Director, Education


Position Description

ACEC is seeking a Director, Education & Online Learning to lead the development, management, and delivery of ACEC's online education portfolio while supporting the engagement and growth of ACEC Forums through targeted educational programming. The ideal candidate has a strong program development and execution background, preferably with a business or trade association, and a member service mentality.

DUTIES:

  1. Manage the Business Resource and Education/Education Advisory Committee, coordinating with the Manager to report to the Committee on the votes from the Call for Presentations and incorporate their feedback into a working agenda for the Spring Convention and Conference.
  2. Assist with outreach and coordination for convention and conference speakers, helping ensure high-quality educational programming at major ACEC events including working with the moderators, confirming room set up, briefing speakers, and coordinating presentations and AV setup on site.
  3. Support the engagement and growth of the Finance, IT, and Health & Safety Forums, identifying opportunities to develop education programming that aligns with Forum priorities and collaborating with Forum planning committees and internal staff to create strong agendas for the Annual Forums event.
  4. Lead the development and delivery of ACEC's online education programs, working with subject matter experts and industry leaders to create relevant programming, coordinating materials, conducting dry runs, and hosting live programs.
  5. Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure education programs are accessible and effectively delivered to members, including registration set-up and member support.
  6. Support marketing and promotion of online education programs, including drafting content for email campaigns and web promotions in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  7. Monitor program performance and participant feedback identifying popular topics, speakers, and formats to improve the effectiveness and reach of ACEC's online education offerings.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Online Education Strategy and Delivery, preferably with a trade or business association.
    Demonstrated experience developing and managing online education programs, including webinars, on-demand courses, and blended learning experiences, preferably within an association or professional services environment.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Expertise
    Advanced knowledge of LMS platforms (e.g., Oasis or similar), including course setup, user experience optimization, reporting, and troubleshooting. Experience leveraging LMS capabilities to enhance engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Content Development with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
    Proven ability to work with industry experts and association leaders to develop high-quality, relevant educational content, including translating technical material into engaging learning experiences.
  • Committee and Volunteer Leadership Management
    Experience working with committees, advisory groups, or volunteer leaders, including facilitating meetings, synthesizing feedback, building consensus, and translating group input into actionable education programs and content strategies.
  • Program and Project Management
    Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate across internal teams, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Digital Learning Innovation
    Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in online learning (e.g., microlearning, cohort-based learning, interactive tools) and the ability to apply them to enhance program offerings.
  • Customer Experience Focus
    Strong commitment to delivering a high-quality learner experience, including ease of access, clear communication, and responsive support.
  • Communication Skills
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to diverse audiences including members, speakers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Association Experience (Preferred)
    Experience working in a professional or trade association environment, with an understanding of member-driven education programs.
  • Education
    Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or relevant certification in education, instructional design, or a related field is a plus
