Duties & Responsibilities

Position Summary
 This position is responsible for driving and overseeing the sales activities and growth of the Allison Inn & Spa. The successful Director of Sales is responsible for revenue generation and key account management, achieving hotel revenue goals through prospecting, relationship development, and enhanced online and marketing exposure to compete in the Portland-Metro and surrounding area hotel market. Also responsible for identifying, recruiting and developing sales managers and completing orientation of all new sales managers within their assigned regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop/implement strategic forecasts as well as sales and training plans to achieve respective hotel/company objectives. Liaise with company and hotel leadership in the development of company and hotel strategic plans.
  • Coordinate with leadership and sales team to develop and utilize objectives, measurements, metrics, and reports for respective hotels and segments.
  • Prepare sales activity reports including sales volume, potential sales, market trend and areas of proposed client-base expansion and present to management.
  • Direct budget development and expenditures toward achievement of respective sales objectives.
  • Monitor the competitive positioning of respective hotels. Collect and analyze market data; oversee and evaluate market research and adjust sales strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Close business within the assigned segment through incoming group requests. Handle overflow from vertical sellers as required. Conduct sales calls as appropriate to book business. Work closely with the property to maximize market revenue potential.
  • Oversee and guide revenue management programs in coordination with revenue managers and general managers to achieve satisfactory market share in relation to industry and economic trends.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent company and hotel image throughout all service offerings, promotional materials, and events. Identify and integrate franchise brand standards into sales initiatives. Present and represent hotels and company in their specific brand voice.
  • Assist w/ internal implementation of sales programs and establishing sales guides and training for front desk staff.
  • Analyze and maintain knowledge of customers; building and promoting strong, long-lasting customer relationships by identifying, understanding and tending to customer needs.
  • Identify advertising and promotion activities, including print, online electronic and direct medium for respective hotels. Present opportunities to management and implement. Measure and manage the effectiveness of promotional activities.
  • Represent company at trade association, franchise, and community meetings and events as appropriate.
  • Recognize emerging market opportunities and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry leaders and key strategic partners.
  • Book groups and local negotiated rates in the booking systems, ensure proper identification of accounts, coordinate with hotels for proper capture of customer information and data, work with hotels to provide company and brands' signature guest experience and image.

Other requirements:

  • Travel - Travel is primarily local during the business day although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
  • Driver License - Valid driver license and access to personal vehicle required for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education & Experience - Five (5) years of related experience w/progressive increase in responsibilities. At least two (2) years' proven experience in Hotel sales manager position.

General Job Information

  • Hours - M-F, Standard Days; Some weekend and overtime work required. Remote work one day per week upon approval.
  • Pay – Exempt Pay rate is based on education, skills and experience.
  • Benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision and life insurance benefits are available first of the month following hire date. Automatically enrolled at 1% contribution in our 401(k)-plan following completion of 12 months of service.
  • Able to pass a background investigation to include motor vehicle check. 
  • Food Handlers certificate.
