Job description

Are you energized by building systems that operate at Internet scale. Passionate about reinventing how ad performance is measured in the online retail world. Eager to grow alongside world-class engineers who push the boundaries of what's possible.

If so, we want to hear from you.
We empower advertisers to optimize ad spend and allocate budgets with confidence by delivering accurate, actionable, and timely conversion measurement across all Amazon ad products. Using deterministic techniques, we produce estimates that are the fastest in the industry - without compromising quality. We harness the latest AWS big data technologies to process over 50 billion new events per day across petabyte-scale clusters, and we're constantly inventing new architectures to stay ahead of our ever-growing scale.
This is your opportunity to build the systems behind measurement decisions that directly impact billions in advertising spend - at a pace and scale few teams in the world can match.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver software that produces measurement data consumed across Amazon's full advertising suite - spanning display, search, native, and video
- Build and maintain petabyte-scale data pipelines and services using technologies like Spark, EMR, and Java, inventing new big data paradigms to keep pace with rapid growth
- Apply a variety of architectural approaches and design patterns to deliver maintainable, scalable, and well-tested solutions in a high-throughput environment
- Navigate complex software challenges with creative problem-solving, adapting to evolving technical requirements and shifting priorities
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners - including scientists, product managers, and engineers across teams - to define requirements and deliver high-quality features end-to-end
- Drive engineering best practices including code reviews, testing strategies, operational excellence (alarms, runbooks, monitoring), and continuous improvement
- Contribute to technical design discussions, identify trade-offs, and propose solutions that balance performance, cost, and long-term maintainability
About the team
The Measurement, AdTech, and Data Science (MADS) team defines and produces the metrics advertisers rely on to analyze the performance of their ad investments

Our charter is focused on the systems responsible for computing and distributing estimated conversions at massive scale. We work across a rich technology stack-combining AWS services like EMR, Kinesis, and AWS Batch with open-source technologies such as Spark and Presto-to deliver fast, reliable measurement at the speed advertisers demand.
