Job description

Relmis the only specialty insurer dedicated to supporting the world’s most innovative industries.

Whether it’s with startups harnessing zero-gravity conditions on the ISS to manufacture blindness‑curing retinas, global crypto exchanges democratizing crypto trading, or biotech pioneers using gene‑editing technology to advance personalized medicine, Relm works lockstep with innovators to understand and underwrite businesses shaping the future.

Relm’s team operates out of offices in London, New York, Dubai, Miami, Bermuda, executing market‑leading insurance solutions for companies operating in digital assets and web3, AI, the space economy, financial technology, biotech, and more.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Where regular insurers look backwards, Relm differentiates by looking ahead. We operate at the forefront of innovative industries by hiring curious minds with deep sector experience. To continue helping businesses build the future, we need all of our team members to demonstrate curiosity, creativity, courage, and optimism. We need them to be accountable for ideation but able to execute collaboratively. In short: we hire people whose inquisitive minds help them break ground.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Relm is seeking an experienced Vice President to join our U.S. Cyber team and play a key role in our next phase of growth.

This is a senior underwriting position, offering the opportunity to work on complex, high‑impact risks while helping shape a dynamic and evolving portfolio. You’ll take ownership of underwriting decisions, build strong broker relationships, and contribute to the strategic direction of the book—particularly across emerging sectors such as fintech, digital assets, and technology‑led businesses.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical underwriting expertise with commercial acumen and a proactive, market‑facing mindset. You’ll be comfortable in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment, with the ability to think strategically, engage externally, and drive profitable growth.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Direct the underwriting strategy, process, planning, reporting, forecasting, business development and innovation for the Cyber insurance book of business
  • Underwrite, price, and negotiate risks in a manner that is consistent with Relm’s risk appetite to ensure profitability, retention, and written premium goals are achieved
  • Provide a professional layer of leadership, mentorship, and management to the underwriting team, fostering a high‑performance culture and promoting continued growth, training and development of junior underwriting and administrative staff
  • Negotiate, prepare, and draft policy and endorsement wording
  • Create and develop relationships with brokers and policyholders to establish new distribution relationships and sales channels
  • Attend and occasionally present at industry conferences, as needed and as the opportunity presents itself
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve company goals and drive cross‑sell opportunities
  • Assist with strategic underwriting planning by developing and maintaining suitable management information to effectively evaluate the portfolio
  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting and regulatory guidelines, standards, and legal requirements
  • Engage in ad‑hoc projects and tasks as assigned to contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of Relm
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • Minimum of 10 years of Cyber insurance underwriting and/or broking experience
  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in business, cyber security, computer science, insurance, actuarial science, or a related discipline
  • Robust relationships with key US and UK wholesale and retail brokers
  • Perceived as a thought leader within the cyber insurance market
  • Experience with policy and endorsement wording negotiation, preparation, and drafting
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Superb leadership qualities with the capability to build comradery in a global team
  • Creative problem‑solver with strong critical thinking skills, an ethical approach to getting things done, and an ability to apply different perspectives across the spectrum
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment
  • A confident communicator who can clearly and authentically convey a written and verbal message, skillfully persuade, and craft a constructive argument
  • Advanced skills across all Microsoft Office applications (familiarity with Mac OS is a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfort with leading client and broker meetings
  • Exceptional attention to detail and work ethic, setting an example for others
  • Ability to work outside of core hours and travel overseas, as required
WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING WITH US

Diversity and inclusion area given in this day and age; Relm goes beyond the norm to provide genuine support for our team members. We believe in equipping our staff with whatever arsenal they need to do their best work (see below), and our commitment to staff growth is often cited by members as one of their most highly valued benefits.

Relm is a team of innovators redefining what’s possible in insurance. With us, you’ll launch industry‑first programs within an environment designed to be antithetical to traditional insurance and the restraints that come with it. Our forward‑thinking attracts forward thinkers.
