Other Conditions: Appointment to begin on August 1, 2025. Appointment is annually renewable.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develop and expand early college programs for pathways into the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity (BS CYBR) and Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Security and Assurance (BAS-ISA) degree programs at UH West Oahu.
  2. Teach early college classes both in-person and online at local high schools to promote continuing education and Hawaii STEM pathways into BS CYBR and BAS-ISA at UH West Oahu.
  3. Teach lower-level undergraduate courses in Information and Computer Science (ICS) both in-person and online at UH West Oahu.
  4. Conduct scholarly and research activities in areas related to early college programs and cyber workforce development.
  5. Participate in curriculum development activities including the development of curricular materials and special instructional methods.
  6. Serve on program, division, and university committees.
  7. Participate in service to cybersecurity workforce development.
  8. Duties as assigned by the Business Administration Division Chair.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. 3-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, computer engineering, computer science, or information technology.
  3. Current CompTIA Linux+ certification.
  4. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural setting; experience teaching and working with highly diverse communities.
  5. Evidence of high-quality teaching in computer programming in a two or four-year, undergraduate degree program.
  6. Ability to complete federal/state/campus security requirements to teach early college programs at local high schools.
  7. Evidence of excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Experience working with or teaching Python programming.
  2. Current cybersecurity professional certifications and/or CompTIA Network+ certification.
  3. Experience teaching at both high school and graduate levels.
  4. Evidence of enthusiasm and self-direction; ability to plan and organize academic, industry, and partnership activities.
