Are you interested in a flexible, mostly remote role with meaningful client interaction and ownership of the accounting process?
Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to oversee and refine bookkeeping work prepared by our internal team and to serve as a point of contact for client questions and accounting issues. The ideal candidate is a strong, independent worker with excellent communication skills who is comfortable reviewing financials, making adjustments, and collaborating directly with clients and our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and adjust bookkeeping completed by staff bookkeepers to ensure accurate coding and reconciliations
  • Perform and oversee month-end close on an accrual basis, including workpapers, adjusting journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Review financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, and related reports) for accuracy and reasonableness; identify and correct issues
  • Support transaction processing in QuickBooks Online as needed (accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit cards, payroll journal entries, and bank matching)
  • Work directly with clients (including CFO/owner level) to address questions, explain variances, and resolve accounting issues
  • Help refine and document processes as we standardize month-end and reporting workflows
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of bookkeeping or staff-accountant experience with small to mid-sized businesses
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience (required); QuickBooks Desktop experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with accrual-basis month-end close and financial statement review
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage recurring deadlines
  • Comfort communicating directly with clients and explaining accounting concepts in plain language
  • High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
  • Experience in an outsourced bookkeeping or accounting firm is a plus
