What is an online avatar?

Online avatars are digital representations or characters used by individuals to express themselves in virtual environments, such as social media, gaming platforms, virtual meetings, and metaverse spaces. These avatars can range from simple profile pictures to fully customizable 3D models that mimic users’ movements and expressions. They help maintain privacy, foster creativity, and enable users to interact in digital worlds. Online avatars are increasingly used for personal branding, entertainment, and even professional purposes.
