Job description

Overview

The Division of Hospital Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina is recruiting pediatric hospitalists. This is an open rank faculty position on the fixed term track. Primary clinical responsibilities include in-house day, evening/night coverage with direct patient care, supervision of residents and fellows, and teaching of medical students at North Carolina Childrenโ€™s Hospital (NCCH).

NCCH is a leading tertiary care provider in the Southeast with a full range of specialty and surgical care. The Division of Hospital Pediatrics is a busy inpatient group that includes 24/7 coverage of inpatient pediatric and newborn nursery services in Chapel Hill. We coordinate admissions and transfers for medical patients, with a focus on children with medical complexity and co-management with medical and surgical specialty consultants. Our faculty are academically productive in medical education, quality improvement, and patient safety, with a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and teamwork.

The UNC School of Medicine aims to improve health and well-being through leadership and excellence in patient care, education, and research, with emphasis on diversity, professionalism, and sustainability.

Position Summary
The Division of Hospital Pediatrics at UNC is recruiting pediatric hospitalists. This is an open rank faculty position on the fixed term track. Primary clinical responsibilities include in-house day, evening/night coverage with direct patient care, supervision of residents and fellows, and teaching of medical students at NCCH. Patients will include general pediatrics, newborn nursery, bone marrow transplant, and co-management with other pediatric specialties. NCCH offers a full range of pediatric services and the division provides 24/7 inpatient coverage, consult services, and coordination of admissions and transfers.

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Pediatrics residency in an accredited program
  • Full North Carolina physician medical license

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience

  • Experience or interest in quality improvement and medical education with broad clinical experience
  • BC/BE in General Pediatrics and/or Hospital Pediatrics; however this is not a requirement
