Job Description
Indiana University East is seeking qualified part-time faculty members to teach online courses across the natural sciences for our Life Science program with concentrations in General Biology, Biochemistry, Human Life Science, Criminalistics, and Medical Lab Science, as well as courses for non-science majors. Additional responsibilities may include teaching-related assessment. Most opportunities will be for introductory-level courses. H-1B visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Currently, the school is particularly interested in deepening the adjunct faculty pool with candidates who are qualified to teach lecture and laboratory courses in an online-only capacity in the following areas:
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Astronomy
  • Introductory Biology
  • Introductory Chemistry
  • Introductory Geology
  • Specialized Biology courses, such as Neurobiology, Biology of Mental Illness and Addictions
  • Physical Science

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach lecture and/or laboratory courses in an online, asynchronous format.
  • Maintaining accurate records through the Learning Management System, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies.
  • Be available to respond to student queries outside of class via email within 48 hours.
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse populations and perspectives within the university and community.

Basic Qualifications
  • An earned master's degree or higher with 18+ graduate credit hours in the discipline of the course, or a closely related discipline.
  • Preparation/background for teaching the relevant course(s).
  • A demonstrated desire to excel in teaching and support student success.
