Job Description

The Assembly Technician plays a key role in building custom electrical switchboards from the ground up. Using blueprints, schematics, hand tools, and power tools, this position performs mechanical assembly and wire harness installation to create high-quality products that meet customer requirements. Success in this role requires attention to detail, high comfort level with hand and power tools, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble metal frames and custom electrical switchboards using hand and power tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, customer specifications, and basic electrical schematics.
  • Measure and verify parts to ensure accurate assembly and quality standards.
  • Build, secure, and install mechanical components and wire harnesses.
  • Mount and route wiring components according to specifications.
  • Perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining attention to detail and product quality.
  • Adapt to customized unit designs while following established assembly processes.
  • Safely use step ladders to access and assemble upper sections of switchboards.
  • Lift, move, and position components weighing up to 70 lbs. as needed.
  • Work in various physical positions, including standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and climbing step stools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and leads to improve quality and productivity.
  • Work independently and efficiently after completing training.

Essential Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Good mechanical skills and hands-on experience in manufacturing, assembly, construction, or a similar environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
  • Comfortable working on a step ladder at heights up to approximately 7 feet.
  • Ability to work in different positions, including standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing step stools.
  • Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining quality and productivity.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and wearing required PPE, including steel-toe or composite-toe footwear.
  • Previous assembly or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings preferred.
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics and assist with wire harness assembly preferred.

Available Shift & Pay

  • 1st shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday - Friday
  • $19-22, based on experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Monticello, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
