Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assembly Supervisor to oversee daily operations and maintain productivity within our Assembly Cells. Reporting to this role are Assembly employees, who may be union or non-union. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the on-time delivery of PHD products, managing and developing the assembly workforce, and implementing operational initiatives related to quality, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:Supervise, coach, and evaluate direct reports to achieve high performance and develop their skills. Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor to address employee questions and concerns.
  • Operational Oversight:Monitor and maintain Assembly Cell productivity to ensure 100% on-time delivery of products. Support Operations directives related to quality, safety, and expense control.
  • Process Management:Implement processes and systems to support new product introductions and custom products in a timely manner. Continuously improve processes and systems to support plant goals.
  • Issue Resolution:Address inventory, workload, tooling, and employee issues promptly and proactively to minimize productivity loss. Handle quality discrepancies, corrective actions, and accident reporting.
  • Communication:Serve as a communication channel for corporate updates to the team. Provide timely and accurate responses to customer service requests regarding production status.
  • Training & Development:Coordinate training, certification, and skill development for assembly personnel in collaboration with the Training and Development Manager.
  • Administrative Compliance:Accurately document disciplinary actions and attendance records. Ensure adherence to Shop Rules and company policies.

Work Environment:This role involves time split between a climate-controlled office and the manufacturing floor. You mayencounterchemicals such as lubricants and coolant, as well as mists,dusts, and odors associated with metalworking. Troubleshooting takes place around machinery with moving parts and material by-products. Noise levels are higher on the floor than in the office. The facility issingle-levelwith concrete floors and no stairs or inclines; rubber/foam mats are present in machining and assembly areas.

Physical Demands:The position requires extensive sitting along with repetitive hand and wrist motions, manual dexterity, and reaching. Frequent standing, walking, speaking, and listening are expected.Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. and good close visual ability are also required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of assembly processes, metal shop work, and manufacturing information systems.
