Job description

Pro Services is partnering with a bakery in Plymouth, MI on a Direct Hire opportunity for a Maintenance Technician to join their third shift maintenance team. This is a hands-on role keeping a high-speed bakery production line running around the clock — conveyors, baggers, tyers, ovens, coolers, sifters, mixers, and proof boxes. If you're mechanically inclined, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to be part of a team that has each other's backs on the floor, we want to hear from you.

Ideal Candidate Profile
  1. 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or bakery environment.

  2. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing complex conveyor systems.

  3. Strong mechanical background — comfortable repairing, installing, and replacing three-phase motors, along with bearings, shafts, seals, and gearboxes.

  4. Basic troubleshooting experience with PLC and HMI systems is a plus.

  5. Food or bakery industry experience is a plus.

  6. Mechanically inclined with a strong troubleshooting mindset — able to diagnose problems and fix them on the fly.

  7. Comfortable in a fast-paced production environment; previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting preferred.

  8. A true team player who's willing to jump in and help anybody on the floor, including the maintenance team and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment — including ovens, conveyor belts, and other critical systems — to minimize unplanned downtime.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems, including motors, instrumentation, distribution, and feed control components.

  • Inspect and replace worn components such as bolts, belts, and other hardware to keep equipment running reliably.

  • Collaborate with production, sanitation, engineering, and maintenance teams to support smooth plant operations.

What You'll Bring
  • Must supply own hand tools (wrenches, Allen key set, jaw pliers, chain lock).

  • Basic electrical skills, including 110V–240V single phase and 480V three-phase systems; motor and relay proficiency required.

  • Basic mechanical skills with the ability to rebuild mechanical devices; conveyor systems experience required.

  • Basic pneumatic skills.

  • Basic welding ability — MIG required; TIG a plus.

Schedule & Pay

Shift: Third shift / nights, 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Schedule: Rotating 3-2-3 schedule, averaging 48 hours per week

Weekend Requirement: Every Friday and every other weekend

Pay: $34.41/hour base, plus $1.55/hour night shift differential

Physical Requirements & PPE
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls up to 100 lbs (less than 1/3 of shift); frequent walking (50%) and standing (30%).

  • Regular kneeling, crouching, and occasional ladder/scaffold work.

  • Works around wet, slippery, and narrow surfaces; normal vision, hearing, and speaking ability required.

  • Required PPE: hairnet, safety glasses, ear protection, and beard net.
