Position SummaryThe MSBT-MCT Program at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach GEBS 635E: State and Federal Cannabis Laws & Policies.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic educator with expertise in cannabis law, healthcare policy, public policy, regulatory affairs, or related disciplines to contribute to our interdisciplinary graduate education program.
Course DescriptionThis course provides a detailed overview of the federal and state laws and policies governing medical and non-medical cannabis production, distribution, and use. Students will examine constitutional law shaping federal cannabis regulation, the United States Controlled Substances Act, state legalization frameworks, and emerging policy trends within the rapidly evolving cannabis industry.
A key objective of the course is to prepare students to identify, interpret, and evaluate federal and state cannabis laws and policies to maintain compliance in the evolving medical and non-medical cannabis landscape.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum Qualifications- Master's degree, JD, PhD, MPH, MPA, or related advanced degree from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated expertise in cannabis law, healthcare law, public policy, regulatory affairs, or related field
- Professional or academic experience related to cannabis regulation and compliance
- Strong communication and teaching skills
Preferred QualificationsPreferred Qualifications- Juris Doctor (JD) or terminal degree in law, policy, public health, or related discipline
- Prior university-level teaching experience
- Experience working within the medical cannabis, biotechnology, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or regulatory sectors
- Familiarity with federal and multi-state cannabis regulatory frameworks
- Experience with online teaching platforms and graduate education

- Develop and deliver engaging course lectures, discussions, and learning activities
- Provide instruction on:

- Constitutional and administrative law principles
- Regulatory compliance and risk management
- Public health and healthcare policy implications
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects, and discussions
- Maintain timely communication and student engagement through the learning management system
- Collaborate with program leadership and faculty to support curriculum quality and innovation

- Understanding of FDA, DEA, and state cannabis regulatory structures
- Cannabis compliance and policy analysis
