AP/CP General Surgical Pathologist/Medical Director Port Charlotte, FL Full-time | Mixed (Rotating Weekends) We are seeking a Pathology Medical Director for the hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. Qualified Candidates: AP/CP American board certification required At least three years of hospital-based experience is preferred Active Florida Medical License or eligible to obtain Comfortable with the full scope of AP and CP for community hospital practice Case volumes: approximately 4,000 surgical cases per year and 1,000 non-gyn cytology cases per year, 5 peripheral smears per week, and less than 1 blood bank review per week Number of pathologists at site: 2 Pathology Volume/Cases: Volumes โ€“ approximately 4,000 surgical cases per year and 1,000 non-gyn cytology cases per year, 5 peripheral smears per week, and less than 1 blood bank review per week Procedures (frozen sections and rapid on-site assessments) โ€“ less than 10 per week Fawcett has approximately 250 beds with a variety of anatomic pathology specimens including breast, colorectal, thoracic, urologic and bone marrow specimens. The practice consists of two pathologists who also remotely cover the surgical and cytology volumes at the hospital (100 beds with approximately 1,400 surgical specimens and 100 non-gyn cytology specimens per year).
