Summary

As a Continuous Improvement Consultant at Oncor, you will be responsible for executing technical project support functionalities for Oncor Continuous Improvement (CI) and/or Benchmarking initiatives. Elements of these functionalities include deployment of Lean, Six Sigma, Change Management, Malcolm Baldrige criteria, and/or Benchmarking support to meet the needs of Oncor. This position will collaborate with the Senior Manager and Manager of Center for Excellence & Innovation (CEI) to provide a comprehensive and superior service to internal clients. The incumbent will possess robust combination of quantitative and qualitative skills, leadership, management, and technical skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Performs all essential functions and aspects of the position including any other specific job requirements.
  • Supports activities within the Center for Excellence and Innovation to include leading Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belt level projects as required by Subject Matter Expert  (SMEs) across the enterprise to sustain Oncor’s culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Responsible for identifying key performance indicators that are aligned with Oncor’s strategic objectives.
  • Partners with internal customers maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of innovation efforts and assures that they support Oncor’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Coach & Mentor Yellow Belt and Green Belt candidates
  • Helps sustain and improve CEI infrastructure related to SharePoint maintenance and administration, data analytics and reporting, and facilitation of meetings as needed by Oncor leadership
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Specific for Consultant Analyst:

  • Executes Lean Six Sigma projects and/or Benchmarking analytics that align with Oncor’s continuous improvement curriculum.
  • Researches and analyzes data accumulation (from internal and external sources) for internal Oncor reporting to fulfill Benchmarking requests for Oncor leadership and provides ideas to streamline and improve current processes/procedures.
  • As needed, provides advanced analytics and modeling support to aid internal customers in making data-driven business decisions.

Specific for Consultant Lead:

  • Provides input into Oncor’s Lean Six Sigma curriculum development and sustainment.
  • As needed, assists with data accumulation and analysis (from internal and external sources) for internal Oncor reporting to fulfill Benchmarking requests for Oncor leadership
  • As needed, provides advanced analytics and modeling support to aid internal customers in making data-driven business decisions.
  • Provides thought leadership around all aspects of performance (systems, processes, people).

Skills 

  • Ability to translate complex issues into clear and concise concepts through effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to transform practical problems into practical solutions using a data-driven approach.
  • Ability to use critical thought to help solve complex business problems using effective root cause analysis.
  • Highly experienced with Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook); advanced Excel capabilities is a plus.

  • Experience with Minitab statistical software desirable.

  • Advanced capability with Minitab statistical software highly desirable.

Education 

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.

Experience

Specific for Consultant Analyst:

  • 5 years work-related experience in project management and application of continuous improvement tools and processes OR
  • 3 years’ work-related experience in change management disciplines inclusive of 3 years of LSS Green Belt project leadership

Or

  • 8-10 years’ experience in multiple Operations, Engineering, Project Management or similar roles with:
  1. Demonstrated formal or informal leadership and mentoring of others.
  2. Proven team-building and organizational skills.
  3. Proven experience as a champion of change and change management.
  4. Proven ability to understand and incorporate business realities into a change program.
  5. Extensive contact with external stakeholders.

Specific for Consultant Lead:

  • 5 years work-related experience in project management and application of continuous improvement tools and processes OR
  • 5 years’ work-related experience in change management disciplines inclusive of 5 years of LSS Black Belt project leadership

 

Measures of Success

  • Clear line of sight to CEI management that reflects continuous improvement tools are in use, functioning appropriately and become a part of the Oncor’s culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Effectively collaborates with colleagues and other key stakeholders in the scoping, implementation, and execution of continuous improvement initiatives and other projects that support Oncor’s culture of Continuous Improvement
  • Provides timely and effective communications with CEI management, peers, subordinates and other stakeholders.
  • Serves as project leader on tactical Black Belt projects or Benchmarking data analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to support or lead Benchmarking, Continuous Process Improvement and Lean Six-Sigma / methodologies in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the complex relationships between Oncor’s financial metrics, Capital vs. Operations and Maintenance (O&M) strategies and the related influence on System Reliability, Safety and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Must quickly gain the trust of project sponsors and their delegates in all aspects of continuous improvement and operations reporting.
  • Level of confidence and attention to detail to be able to challenge and be challenged by local management, project sponsors, and peers.
  • Consistently achieves desired results.
