Job description

Position: Professional Development & Talent Manager (Global Law Firm)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Company: Global AM100 Law Firm

Compensation: Base salary up to $210K, bonus, annual performance incentives, comprehensive medical coverage, retirement savings plan with firm contributions, generous PTO, and additional employee-focused perks.


Summary for Professional Development & Talent Manager (Global Law Firm)

Join a collaborative, globally recognized AM100 law firm in this exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting attorney talent initiatives within the Firm’s premier Litigation Department. The Senior Legal Talent Manager will partner closely with Practice Group leadership to drive attorney development, performance management, mentorship programs, lateral integration, and strategic talent initiatives. This highly impactful role offers the opportunity to work alongside firm leadership in a collaborative environment focused on professional development, attorney engagement, and retention.


Responsibilities for Professional Development & Talent Manager (Global Law Firm):

  • Partner with Litigation Practice Group leadership to support attorney talent management, professional development, retention, and strategic practice group initiatives.
  • Lead the annual attorney evaluation process for associates, counsel, and income partners while monitoring performance and development plans.
  • Oversee mentorship programs and serve as a trusted resource for associates and counsel on career development, workplace concerns, and firm engagement.
  • Coordinate the onboarding, integration, and ongoing development of lateral attorneys to ensure a successful transition into the Firm.
  • Partner with Finance to analyze productivity metrics, prepare reporting, and support strategic staffing and practice group planning.
  • Collaborate with Practice Group leadership and cross-functional departments to implement firm policies, talent initiatives, and attorney development programs.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze attorney attrition trends, and coordinate Practice Group meetings and events to support engagement and retention.


Qualifications for Professional Development & Talent Manager (Global Law Firm):

  • Bachelor’s degree required; J.D. preferred.
  • 7 + years of law firm experience, including at least 5 years supporting attorney talent management, legal personnel, or practice group management within a large law firm.
  • Experience partnering directly with Practice Group leadership, partners, and attorneys on strategic talent management initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of attorney evaluations, professional development, mentoring programs, lateral integration, and attorney retention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the Firm.
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and develop effective solutions to complex personnel and talent management matters.
