Professional Development Manager

Blue Valley Community Action Partnership (BVCA) is seeking a Professional Development Manager to join our Children Services team. This position provides leadership for workforce development systems across our Head Start program, helping ensure staff are well-prepared, supported, and equipped to provide high-quality services to children and families.

What You’ll Do

As the Professional Development Manager, you will lead and coordinate systems related to employee onboarding, training, professional development, performance management, and standards of conduct. You will work closely with Children Services leadership and supervisors to strengthen staff development and support a qualified, competent workforce.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead workforce development, onboarding, training, professional development, and performance management systems for Children Services.
  • Support and coach supervisors in performance management, employee development, reflective supervision, and corrective action.
  • Supervise the Professional Development team and oversee staff qualifications, professional development goals, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance to supervisors and staff.
  • Partner with Human Resources on hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Support leadership development, continuous quality improvement, strategic planning,

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least three years of experience in a management role supervising multiple staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, teamwork, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff and manage multiple objectives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and age groups.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to effectively navigate web-based systems.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and access to an insured motor vehicle.
  • Ability to pass required background checks.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Early Childhood, or a related field.
  • Experience in employee training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Experience working with or detailed knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards.
