As of Aug 14, 2026, the average yearly pay for on chain blockchain analysis in the United States is $100,315.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an on chain blockchain analyst?

To thrive as an On Chain Blockchain Analyst, you need a strong understanding of blockchain technology, data analysis, and cryptography, often supported by a degree in computer science, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with blockchain explorers, data visualization tools, smart contract auditing platforms, and programming languages like Python or Solidity is typically required. Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are key soft skills for interpreting complex data and presenting findings. These skills are crucial for identifying blockchain trends, preventing fraud, and enabling informed decision-making within the rapidly evolving crypto landscape.

What is on chain blockchain analysis?

On chain blockchain analysis refers to the process of examining and interpreting data that is publicly available on a blockchain network. Analysts use specialized tools to track transactions, identify wallet addresses, and uncover patterns to help with compliance, security, and market intelligence. This role is crucial for detecting illicit activities such as money laundering, as well as for studying market behaviors and trends. On chain analysis provides transparency and helps organizations make informed decisions based on real-time blockchain data.

What are common challenges faced by professionals in on chain blockchain analysis, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in on-chain blockchain analysis often encounter challenges such as tracking illicit transactions across complex networks, dealing with pseudonymous identities, and managing rapidly evolving blockchain technologies. These challenges can be addressed by staying current with the latest analytical tools, collaborating closely with cybersecurity teams, and continually updating one's knowledge of regulatory requirements. Additionally, working in a cross-functional environment with law enforcement and compliance teams helps analysts interpret data more effectively and act on findings promptly.

What is the difference between On Chain Blockchain Analysis vs Blockchain Data Analyst?

AspectOn Chain Blockchain AnalysisBlockchain Data Analyst
CredentialsKnowledge of blockchain technology, data analysis skills, possibly certifications in blockchain or data analysisStrong analytical skills, proficiency in data tools, understanding of blockchain concepts, relevant certifications
Work EnvironmentPrimarily technical, involving blockchain platforms, data analysis tools, and possibly codingData-focused, often in finance, tech companies, or blockchain firms, using data visualization and analysis software
Industry UsageUsed by blockchain firms, security teams, and compliance departments to monitor blockchain activityEmployed across finance, tech, and blockchain sectors for interpreting blockchain data trends

While both roles involve analyzing blockchain data, On Chain Blockchain Analysis focuses on examining blockchain transactions and activity directly on the blockchain, often for security and compliance. Blockchain Data Analysts interpret broader blockchain data sets for insights, reporting, and strategic decision-making. Both roles require strong analytical skills but differ in their specific focus and tools used.

Job description

About Odos
Odos is the most advanced Smart Order Routing protocol in DeFi - aggregating liquidity across 16+ EVM chains to deliver the best execution paths for swaps, bridges, and limit orders. With billions in total volume and millions of unique wallets, we're expanding our data and analytics capabilities to better understand our users, optimize routing algorithms, and support new products like Protected Swaps, Multi-Token Swaps, and Loyalty Programs.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Data & BI Engineer responsible for the design, reliability, and scalability of Odos's transaction data pipelines, business intelligence metrics, and Tableau dashboards. This role will bridge on-chain trade data with user and loyalty program analytics, enabling the product, growth, and finance teams to make data-driven decisions.
You will own the transaction database layer and help build a unified analytics view of Odos operations - from trade volume and fee revenue to wallet activity, rewards, and partner performance.
Responsibilities
  • Data Infrastructure
    • Maintain and scale the Odos transaction and event database (Redis, PostgreSQL, or equivalent).
    • Build ETL pipelines from on-chain data sources, APIs, and internal services.
    • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and query performance across chains and order types.
  • Business Intelligence & Reporting
    • Define and track key metrics (e.g., total volume, route count, fee revenue, average slippage, gas savings, wallet activity).
    • Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards and automated reporting for the leadership team.
    • Collaborate with product and growth teams to design campaign and feature-specific analytics (Protected Swaps, Multi-Token Swaps, etc.).
  • Loyalty & User Analytics
    • Integrate and analyze loyalty program data - wallet tiers, reward distribution, retention, and ROI.
    • Work with marketing and growth teams to attribute traffic and measure referral or loyalty campaigns.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with backend engineers on event schemas and pipeline performance.
    • Support finance and ops with data exports for audits, investors, and DAO reporting.

  • 3+ years experience in data engineering or BI development (preferably in fintech, crypto, or trading).
  • Strong SQL proficiency and familiarity with Redis, PostgreSQL, and time-series data.
  • Experience with Tableau (or equivalent BI tool) - data modeling, calculated fields, dashboard automation.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting language for ETL and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with on-chain data, DEX trade logs, or blockchain analytics tools (e.g., Dune, Flipside, The Graph).
  • Understanding of DeFi protocols, swaps, liquidity pools, and wallet behavior.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to turn raw data into clear business insights.
Nice to Have
  • Experience integrating blockchain indexers or running custom subgraphs.
  • Familiarity with The Graph protocol and decentralized data indexing.
  • Experience designing metrics for revenue forecasting and incentive programs.
