Job Summary:

Provides advanced material handling equipment repairs. Assists in implementation of preventative maintenance tasks for the Company's material handling fleets. Supports all maintenance tasks throughout retail and support area environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance tasks on a variety of material handling equipment, including conveyor systems, automated sortation systems, robotic pickers, forklifts, and palletizers.
  • Utilizes advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify equipment malfunctions and root causes of issues, implementing comprehensive solutions to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Participates in equipment upgrade projects, retrofits, and installations, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors to implement enhancements that improve efficiency, safety, and productivity.
  • Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and equipment performance data. Generate reports on equipment downtime, maintenance costs, and efficiency metrics to support decision-making and process optimization.
  • Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies in all maintenance activities. Conducts safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify and address potential hazards proactively.
  • Leads emergency response efforts during equipment breakdowns or critical failures, coordinating with operations and engineering teams to prioritize repairs and minimize disruption to production schedules.
  • Performs mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment repairs.
  • Assists with material handling equipment safety compliance and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Documents all material handling equipment repairs and the usage of inventory parts.
  • Records repair time confirmation in electronic software.
  • Maintains company provided tools and support equipment.
  • Maintains a safe and clean maintenance work environment.
  • Performs any other maintenance related tasks assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Intermediate mathematical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
  • Advanced mechanical skills.
  • Advanced hydraulic knowledge.
  • Advanced electrical and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Ability to use knives/box cutters.
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery/ hazardous equipment.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
  • Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
  • Ability to reason, form concepts and recognize and solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
  • Ability to work on-call and flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
  • Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or GED and ten or more years of related experience required; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Completion of vocational or technical school required.
  • Associates Degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 21 years of age required.
  • OSHA 10 Certification preferred.
  • Material handling equipment training preferred.
  • Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for Company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy

Physical Demands:

  • Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.
  • Continuously required to talk and hear.
