Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician with exceptional data entry skills and a passion for leading others? We're looking for a Data Entry Lead Pharmacy Technician to oversee our Order Entry team while ensuring prescriptions are entered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
In this role, you'll combine technical expertise with leadership, helping your team succeed while ensuring our patients receive the highest level of service.
Requirements
Lead the Order Entry Team

  • Manage and delegate daily Order Entry workflow and assignments.
  • Prioritize incoming prescription orders to ensure timely processing.
  • Monitor productivity, accuracy, and quality of work.
  • Train, coach, and mentor new and existing team members.
  • Follow up on delegated tasks to ensure completion.
  • Develop the monthly departmental task calendar using Google Calendar.
  • Create, update, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), with the goal of enhancing the department's training manual within six months.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork and accountability.
Data Entry Responsibilities
  • Enter new and refill prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Complete all required data fields according to pharmacy procedures.
  • Perform dosage calculations and day supply calculations.
  • Utilize approved pharmacy abbreviations and terminology.
  • Review prescription information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Consult with pharmacists regarding prescription clarifications, non-stock medications, and order entry concerns.
  • Ensure medication labeling complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Cross-train and assist in the Filling Department when needed.
Customer Service & Communication
  • Answer incoming customer calls professionally and courteously.
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacists, providers, nursing facilities, and internal departments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call rotation as scheduled.
Compliance & Quality
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, and company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and increased efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Current Maryland Registered or Licensed Pharmacy Technician
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum one year of pharmacy experience (Long-Term Care preferred)
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills with exceptional accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, SIG codes, Roman numerals, brand and generic medications, and dosage calculations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including on-call assignments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using QS/1 Pharmacy Software
  • Experience using DocuTrack
  • Previous Lead Technician or supervisory experience
  • Experience in Long-Term Care Pharmacy
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
  • Sit, stand, bend, and walk throughout the workday.
  • Use a computer and keyboard for extended periods.
  • Read prescription labels and other small print.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Work extended hours as business needs require.
