The Role: DCO Facilities Manager

This role leads daily facilities operations within a Switch data center campus. You are responsible for uptime, safety, maintenance execution, and technician team performance across critical electrical and mechanical systems. The role combines people leadership, vendor management, incident response oversight, and operational discipline within a 24/7/365 mission-critical environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and supervise Facilities Technicians to ensure safe, reliable operation of critical power and cooling infrastructure.

  • Maintain uptime standards through disciplined preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Participate in on-call or Manager on Duty rotations and respond to escalated facility events.

  • Build and manage technician schedules to ensure proper site coverage.

  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and development planning for team members.

  • Oversee vendor and contractor work, ensuring compliance with Switch standards and safety policies.

  • Review and approve maintenance procedures, MOPs, SOPs, and safety documentation.

  • Coordinate maintenance windows and submit work orders through Change Advisory Board processes.

  • Review and approve purchase orders and invoices related to maintenance activities.

  • Manage facility-related budgets and support capital planning discussions.

  • Use CMMS and building management systems to monitor asset health and maintenance completion.

  • Support audits and provide required documentation for regulatory and customer reviews.

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and coordinate access or maintenance requirements.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across maintenance execution and operational processes.

What We’re Looking For
  • Demonstrated people leadership in mission-critical or industrial environments.

  • Strong decision-making during high-impact operational events.

  • Clear communication with technicians, vendors, customers, and leadership.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining safety and compliance standards.

  • Accountability for team performance, uptime, and operational results.

What You’ll Bring
  • 5 or more years of experience in facilities, electrical, or mechanical systems within a mission-critical or industrial environment.

  • 3 or more years of people management or team lead experience.

  • Advanced understanding of electrical and mechanical systems including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, ATS or STS units, PDUs, cooling systems, and fire suppression systems.

  • Experience working within CMMS, asset management, and building management systems.

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation.

  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional relevant certifications preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
