Job Overview:
Insight Contracting is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems in both commercial and residential units. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential and commercial construction and be able to provide some of their own tools. The candidate should also be familiar with industry safety standards and be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • HVAC System Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work complies with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations, particularly in the handling of refrigerants.
  • System Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair issues with thermostats, furnaces, condensers, and other HVAC components.
  • Work in Tight Spaces: Comfortably perform work in confined areas such as attics, crawl spaces, or utility rooms.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with fellow technicians to ensure projects are completed efficiently while minimizing callbacks.
  • Tenant Support: Troubleshoot work orders and resolve tenant concerns over the phone or in person.
  • Emergency Maintenance: Provide on-call HVAC services as per the Emergency Maintenance Standards.
  • Unit Turn Work: Complete HVAC tasks within the timeline set during unit turnarounds.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and equipment in company storage and vehicles.
  • Supply Management: Assist in ordering necessary maintenance supplies while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Safety Protocols: Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required for specific tasks.
  • Accurate Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed using a service-tracking application on a mobile device.
  • Tracking Protocol Compliance: Adhere to and promote the company’s tracking protocols and procedures for accurate billing, safe-driving practices, and work documentation.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with management, tenants, and team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and corporate-insurable driving record.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: 1+ years’ experience in HVAC systems, preferably in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with mini-split systems is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and use various trades tools and equipment. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (50-80 lbs.).
