Job description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for On Call Emergency Management Specialist, Response to work out of Honolulu, HI.    

Emergency management cadre positions are on-call and assignments are on an as-needed basis.  Cadre members are not eligible for benefits.  

Cadre members are asked for a 30 day commitment; availability to deploy with little to no advance notice (typically within 24-48 hours); and during deployments, ability to potentially work 8-12 hours/day; 7 days/week.  

Your Impact

  • Support Emergency Management team in servicing clients preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters nationwide and in US territories.
  • Deploy to Emergency Operations Center and/or Field Staging Area operations prior to, during, and post-disaster.
  • Perform a variety of duties including logistics, supply, cost/documentation and/or resource unit functions.
  • Attend periodic training throughout the year to maintain deployment eligibility.
  • Support Emergency Management Project Management functions. 
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • HS Diploma.
  • 7+ years experience, including 1+ years in an Emergency Management role (Response, Recovery or related), or equivalent.
  • Broad knowledge of Emergency Management principles, methods and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook (Email), Word, and Excel.
  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute Independent Study - Professional Development Series certification.
  • Travel Required - Must be able to deploy to disaster area, with little or no advance notice and potentially for long durations up to a minimum of 30 days.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Emergency Management (or related field).
  • Asset Management and Supply Logistical Operational Experience.
  • Previous experience working at Field Staging Areas or state Emergency Operations Center or related environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting tools.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $30-$35/hour
