Description

Company Overview:

At Echoing Hills, we are committed to assisting individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities to reach their fullest potential. We provide support with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control - the nine Fruit of the Spirit. We believe that by embodying the Fruit of the Spirit, we build trust and create an environment in which team members, individuals served, and their families can thrive.

Job Summary:

The Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct care and support to individuals served using a person-centered approach while serving as a lead resource for daily operations within the home. This role supports and mentors DSP staff, assists with training and scheduling needs, and serves as a communication link between direct care staff and leadership. The Lead DSP promotes consistent, high-quality care while supporting the mission and Christian values of the Ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals served, including personal care, activities of daily living, and active treatment programming.
  • Assist nursing staff with medical care needs, including medication administration, health monitoring, and reporting changes in condition.
  • Implement and support person-centered plans and active treatment programs in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Ensure completion, accuracy, and timeliness of all required documentation related to individual care and services.
  • Foster a positive, supportive environment that empowers individuals to build relationships, pursue goals, and live meaningful lives.
  • Support individuals with internal and community-based activities, appointments, and transportation.
  • Serve as a peer mentor and primary trainer for newly hired DSPs, coordinating training activities and communicating progress to leadership.
  • Monitor daily staff duties, assignments, rounds, and household checklists; communicate concerns or barriers to the QIDP.
  • Assist with managing staff call-offs, scheduling coverage, and supporting daily household operations, including grocery ordering.
  • Participate in compliance activities, regulatory surveys, safety procedures, infection control practices, Individuals' Rights requirements, and emergency drills.
  • Attend required in-services, meetings, committees, special projects, and participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support individuals served, staff, and Ministry operations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prior experience in the developmental disability field or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support direct care staff.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications required within 60 days of hire.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Demonstrated Christian background and ability to support the mission and values of the Ministry.

Work Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a residential or facility setting with exposure to indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Schedule may include any shift, weekends, and holidays; extended hours may be required during emergencies or staffing shortages.
  • Mandation and participation in an on-call rotation may be required.
  • Occasional overnight stays may be required for individual activities, training, or seminars.
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, quick response in emergencies, and the ability to independently lift up to 45 pounds.
