Baker Valley Unified School District is located in heart of the Mojave Desert. Situated along I-15 between Barstow, CA and Las Vegas, NV, we served students in grades Pre-K-12. The administration and staff strive to provide students with a world-class education to ensure all students are ready to face the college and workforce demands of the 21st Century. Total enrolled for the district is about 125 students, which results in one of the lowest students to teacher ratios in the State of California.
Job Summary
BVUSD is searching for a Middle School Science Instructor that provides engaging, standards-based science instruction that promotes scientific literacy, inquiry, critical thinking, and hands-on learning experiences for middle school students without a reliance on the use of technology and digital instructional tools. The instructor fosters student curiosity while supporting academic achievement through effective instructional strategies and positive classroom management.
This position will include additional subject matter assignments based upon the candidate's possession of appropriate supplemental authorizations or credentials.
Job Description / Essential Elements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver effective science instruction aligned with California State Standards and district curriculum requirements.
  • Develop and implement lessons that encourage scientific inquiry, experimentation, and problem-solving.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including laboratory activities, demonstrations, collaborative learning, and technology integration.
  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and promote student success.
  • Assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment.
  • Promote appropriate safety procedures and practices during all laboratory and hands-on activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in curriculum planning, professional development, and school initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, assessments, and student performance.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
