Job description

Claims Specialist | Physical Damage
Locations: Bloomington, IN or Knoxville, TN
Hybrid Role: 3 Days in office and 2 days remote
Position Summary
As a Claims Specialist, you will investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve physical damage and cargo claims while delivering outstanding service to our insureds. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills to ensure fair claim resolution, compliance with industry standards, and a positive customer experience.
What You'll Do
  • Investigate and adjust physical damage and cargo claims.
  • Review policy coverage and determine liability.
  • Guide customers through the claims process, including towing, cargo transfers, and repair coordination.
  • Gather and evaluate estimates, damage documentation, and other claim-related information.
  • Establish claim reserves and maintain accurate file documentation.
  • Work with independent adjusters, repair facilities, attorneys, and other stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently.
  • Negotiate settlements, issue payments, and identify subrogation and salvage opportunities.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation for emergency physical damage and cargo losses.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Required

  • Ability to participate in an evening and weekend on-call rotation.

Preferred
  • Experience handling physical damage, cargo, auto, transportation, or commercial claims.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy coverage and claims handling practices.
  • Industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, or similar certifications.
