Position Summary

Rare Opporutnity! Part-Time Radiology Angiographer for the Interventional Radiology Department at ORMC! Level 1 Trauma Center! 

Orlando Health’s Interventional Radiology (IR) Department uses advanced imaging technologies—including X-ray, CT, and ultrasound—to perform minimally invasive procedures that offer patients shorter recovery times and fewer complications compared to traditional surgery.

The IR team specializes in procedures such as feeding and drainage tube placement, neuro-interventional services, venous access (ports, tunneled lines), tumor ablations, biopsies, and a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Their expertise also includes embolization for emergent trauma patients and stroke intervention (thrombectomy).

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

The ideal RT for Interventional Radiology would:

• Thrive in a fast-paced, procedure-driven environment while providing high-quality imaging support for a wide variety of interventional radiology procedures.
• Preferably have one year of experience in diagnostic imaging or an advanced imaging modality.
• Demonstrate strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills in dynamic clinical situations.
• Exhibit excellent technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot imaging equipment and procedural challenges.
• Perform and optimize imaging during complex procedures while maintaining radiation safety standards and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.
• Independently manage workflow before, during, and after procedures, anticipate procedural needs, recognize potential complications, and collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
• Remain adaptable and composed while supporting emergent, urgent, and scheduled procedures in a high-acuity environment.

Specific Job Requirements

Work Schedule: 

Part-Time up to 29 hours a week- 3 days a week

OnCall Requirements:

• Rad Techs must be able to respond onsite within 30 minutesof notification for emergent cases.
• Eight (8) oncall shiftsare required within each 6week schedule period.

Holiday and Weekend Coverage:

• The Interventional Radiology department is closed on the six Orlando Health–observed holidays and all weekends.
• Designated oncall teams provide coverage during these times to support emergent procedures.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates professional judgment in service delivery and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care, recognizes patient conditions, and ensures successful completion of procedures and guidelines.
• Assists the physician in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
• Assists the physician in all procedures as necessary.
• Ensures that the patient’s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in their care.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Orlando Health’s mission statement and strategic imperatives.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age-specific needs.
• Provides instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation and communication to the appropriate team members.
• Positions patient, equipment, and associated devices. Manipulates technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
• Applies sterile techniques and appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cross- contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures.
• Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
• Assists in the supervision of student technologists and the training of new technologists.
• Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Demonstrates proficiency in supply usage, charging, and documentation.
• Ensures the safety of all customers.
• Demonstrates knowledge regarding location, use, and troubleshooting of complex technical equipment and instruments. Acts as a resource for its operation and training.
• Maintains the use of customer service skills in communication with all Orlando Health staff, visitors, and co-workers.
• Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools, and forms.
• Performs as a mentor/preceptor for new staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism.
• Understands the application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures.
• Ensures that case turnover time is within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimal patient care.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, department guidelines, and education requirements.
