Position Overview

Desert View Psychiatry PC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to join our remote team in Boston, Massachusetts. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to mental health care within a community health clinic setting. You will play a vital role in delivering psychosocial assessments, interventions, and discharge planning services to patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met during and after hospitalization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify social, emotional, and environmental factors affecting their mental health and treatment.
  • Formulate, develop, and implement individualized care plans utilizing appropriate social work interventions tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and involve patients and their families in treatment planning to enhance patient outcomes and support recovery.
  • Facilitate comprehensive discharge planning by liaising with physicians, insurance providers, and additional healthcare staff to ensure seamless transitions from hospital to home or community services.
  • Provide education and brief counseling to patients and families on coping strategies related to illness, hospital stays, and long-term adjustment.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to support patients during critical moments, deploying short-term therapeutic interventions as required.
  • Evaluate and address mental health concerns, such as depression and anxiety, particularly in oncology patients, providing necessary counseling and support.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to after-hour patient needs, ensuring continuous support and care availability.
  • In cases deemed clinically necessary, facilitate involuntary examinations under the Baker Act, ensuring patient safety and compliance with legal frameworks.
  • Share expertise by presenting at educational conferences and workshops, contributing to the advancement of psychosocial oncology practices.
  • Engage in community outreach initiatives, promoting cancer survivor resources and services, and enhancing access to mental health support.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this position, you will engage with a diverse population, including patients experiencing chronic illness, mental health challenges, and those navigating complex life situations. Many of the patients you serve will be cancer survivors, requiring tailored psychosocial support and resources to foster resilience and promote mental well-being.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution, along with a valid LICSW license in Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical social work services, particularly in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of psychosocial assessment tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to diverse patient needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in utilizing telehealth technologies for remote counseling sessions.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in oncology or mental health settings is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with community resources and support systems available to patients and families navigating mental health challenges.
