What You Bring to the Role (Qualifications):
Licensure & Credentials:
  • Active, valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current First Aid certification from an approved agency (such as the American Red Cross).

Experience & Training (Must meet one of the following):
  • One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in a program serving individuals with mental disabilities; OR
  • Commitment to complete a minimum of 20 hours of regulatory on-the-job training within the first year of employment (this is in addition to standard annual training requirements).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience with medication administration.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

How you will make a difference (Job Overview):
The LVN / LPT provides direct client care including the administration of medications, including injections. Engages clients and families to determine physical health status. Formulates and implements an effective nursing care plan understanding psychiatric illness and its treatment as appropriate for Scope of Practice. Demonstrates an understanding of age-related development and other issues for the population(s).
Division/Program Overview:
  • 16-bed facilities
  • Designed for adults with mental health challenges or a recent crisis who need intensive treatment.
  • 24/7 programs as an alternative to urgent care or hospitalization.
  • Individuals can live on-site in a homelike setting for a short term while they receive counseling and learn basic living and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to receive physical and psychological evaluation, mental health, and case management services, in addition to assistance locating permanent housing.
