Job description

Position Reference: 01CLFCV016

$450.00 per hour on site, plus $300.00 per hour on call. Call-back paid at your full $450.00 rate with a two hour minimum. Independent contractor, 1099.

ANY active, unrestricted U.S. state, territory, commonwealth or District of Columbia license. A New York license is NOT required.

Professional liability coverage is fully secured and paid by CLFC. You do not need to provide or purchase your own policy for this assignment.

Facility: James J. Peters VA Medical Center, 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, New York 10468. Tertiary care, 311 beds.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus a share of a published call rotation.
Engagement: Take it as your principal assignment, or take scheduled days and call alongside the practice you already have. Both are open and the rate is the same.

ON-CALL IS PAID

Carrying call pays $300.00 per hour, on its own, separately from your on-site hours. If you are called in, that time is paid at your full $450.00 rate with a two hour minimum. Carrying call is work, and it is paid as work.

WHO IS IN THOSE BEDS

James J. Peters is the spinal cord injury referral center for three VA networks and for new Department of Defense injuries. The veterans in those beds need IVC filters, ports, drainage and image guided intervention. There is no substitute for an interventional radiologist standing in that room.

THE SHORT VERSION
  • $450.00 per hour on site, plus $300.00 per hour on call. 1099.
  • Call-back paid at your full $450.00 rate, two hour minimum.
  • Professional liability coverage is fully secured and paid by CLFC.
  • Any active, unrestricted U.S. license is accepted. You do not need a New York license.
  • Take it as your principal assignment, or keep your current practice and take scheduled days and call alongside it. Same rate either way.
  • No RVU targets, no billing, no coding, no collections, no partnership buy-in.
  • A staffed, equipped angiography suite. You are not competing for lab time.
  • CLFC coordinates and pays for your federal credentialing and privileging.
THE PRACTICE

You practice interventional radiology and nothing else. You practice without relative value unit targets, billing quotas, coding, collections, denials to appeal or commercial production incentives. Clinical workload is driven by the needs of the veteran population you serve.

The angiography suite is equipped and staffed by the hospital, with its own technologists and nursing. You are not competing for lab time and you are not chasing down support. Your weekday service is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and call is a published rotation shared across a credentialed team rather than a pager that belongs to one person.

The case mix is complex vascular, oncologic and hepatobiliary disease in an older veteran population, with the range you would expect at a tertiary center: angiography and angioplasty, embolization, central and peripheral line and port placement, IVC filter placement and retrieval, biopsy and drainage, and image guided oncologic intervention, to American College of Radiology practice standards. You work directly alongside diagnostic radiology, vascular surgery, oncology, hepatology and critical care. James J. Peters is a teaching hospital, so on-call physicians also field consultations from VA residents and staff physicians.

WHAT WE HANDLE SO YOU DO NOT

Federal credentialing and privileging is a critical part of getting you ready for the assignment. CLFC coordinates the process and pays the associated credentialing costs. You are assigned a named program manager who works the file with you and remains your administrative point of contact throughout the assignment, for scheduling, timekeeping and anything else that comes up.

You provide the clinical credentials. We manage the process around them.

WHAT YOU NEED
  • MD or DO.
  • Board certified or board eligible through the American Board of Radiology in Interventional Radiology, or in Diagnostic Radiology with Vascular and Interventional Radiology subspecialty certification, with Maintenance of Certification current.
  • Active, full and unrestricted license in any one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Active DEA registration and an NPI.
  • Eligible to be credentialed and privileged at a federal medical facility and to pass a federal background investigation.
  • For call participation, reachable by phone within 15 minutes and able to be on site within 45 minutes.

ACLS and BLS certification, immunizations and VA training modules are handled after selection. They are not application requirements and we support you through them.

COMPENSATION
  • On-site: $450.00 per hour
  • On-call: $300.00 per hour, paid separately from your on-site hours
  • Call-back: Your full $450.00 per hour when you return to the facility, two hour minimum
  • Malpractice: Professional liability coverage secured and funded by CLFC. No personal policy required for this assignment
  • Engagement: Independent contractor, 1099
  • Production targets: None. No RVUs, no billing, no coding, no collections, no buy-in
  • Facility provides: Angiography suite, imaging equipment, technologist and nursing support, PACS, VistA Imaging and voice recognition reporting
  • Travel: For physicians based outside the New York area, travel and lodging are discussed individually
  • CLFC provides: Federal credentialing and privileging coordinated and paid at our cost, and a named program manager for the life of the assignment
