Job description

Summary

Chenega Government Mission Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services’ company, is looking for an Optometrist (Part-Time, 1099) in support of the Lawton Indian Hospital. The Optometrist will provide services to beneficiaries of the Indian Health Service in Lawton, OK. The Optometrist shall deliver quality care to attain positive health outcomes for all our valued patients with emphasis on cultural sensitivity and human dignity.

Responsibilities

Position details: 

  • 1099, rate $90-100/hour 
  • Part-time, 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
  • Hours: 8am-5pm   
  • Chenega covers medical malpractice insurance  
  • Patient Volume: Estimated 20 per day 

Responsibilities: 

  • Examine, diagnose, and develop treatment plans and recommendations for patients seen.
  • Collaborate with the physician in the health care of patients with chronic illnesses.
  • Recommend and refer patients to other Indian Health Service providers and Purchase Referred Care (PRC) vendors within appropriate IHS guidelines.
  • Document services utilizing the appropriate electronic medical record system for patient encounters; complete all required administrative paperwork day of appointment to include electronic consults, co-signatures, completion of chart or Risk Management Reviews, unusual occurrences and peer review, as required within 24-hours of patient visit
  • Be in compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC) standard compliance and administrative policies, as directed.
  • Provide consultation to the Emergency Department health care providers on an as needed basis. The Optometrist shall provide on-call coverage to Emergency Department for ocular emergencies on a rotational basis each month.
  • Provide on-site optometrist services and coordinate patient care with appropriate other IHS Departments, i.e., Nutrition, Medical, Business Office, PRC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Optometry 
  • Permanent, current, full and unrestricted license to practice Optometry in a state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.  
  • Active BLS certification 
  • 2 years of post-graduate experience

Estimated Salary/Wage
USD $90.00/Hr. Up to USD $100.00/Hr.
