Job description

Role Overview:
This role is for a Business Analyst specializing in ADMS/OMS (Advanced Distribution Management System / Outage Management System) implementations within the electric utility sector. The individual will provide functional and technical expertise, lead discussions on system requirements, and support the execution of engagements related to OT (Operational Technology) system planning, implementation, testing, and operation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide functional and technical expertise in various aspects of ADMS/OMS implementations, including system design, documentation, and improvement of complex utility workflows such as trouble ticket generation and crew dispatch.
  • Lead discussions on system requirements for electric distribution grids, storm restoration processes, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Support the execution of engagements to assist electric utilities with management of OT (SCADA/ADMS/OMS/GIS/AMI) system planning, implementation, testing, and operation.
  • Support business requirements definition, request for proposal (RFP) development, and vendor evaluation.
  • Support proposal evaluation, selection process, statement of work development, and vendor contract negotiation.
  • Support solution design, documentation, planning, implementation, vendor management, testing, and acceptance.
  • Support the evaluation of potential new vendor partners and the development of partnerships with key vendors.

Required Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with GEV ADMS & OMS system (preferred) or any other OEM OMS of ABB / Oracle NMS /Schneider / Siemens system.
  • Understanding of OMS system functionalities (Outage workflow, Crew management, Mobile application, Outage Reporting & Maps).
  • Ability to map workflows for outage identification, prioritizing restoration efforts, and customer communication via IVR/SMS.
  • Proficiency in utilizing SQL or reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to analyze outage data, calculate restoration times (ETR), and measure KPI performance.
  • Strong understanding of GIS (Smallworld, ESRI) & Smart AMI metering.
  • Relevant utility experience to engage with client utilities to understand their specific applications, approaches, and methodologies in Electric Distribution Operational systems.
  • Knowledge of ADMS functionalities of Fault Management through FLISR/FDIR, Feeder Reconfiguration, Load-shed, Voltage VAR control, Distribution Load flow.
  • Familiarity with integrating OMS with SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), GIS (Geographic Information Systems), AMI (Smart Meters), and CRM platforms.
  • Knowledge of IT/OT and security standards (e.g., NERC CIP).
  • Working familiarity with current standards and regulations governing power systems.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering or a similar technical domain.
  • At least 10 years of experience in business and technical consulting, or relevant engagement implementation services as part of a Utility OT Systems or ADMS/OMS vendor team.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in Electricity OT/ADMS systems, with at least 5+ years in utility industry BA roles.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experienced resources from Electric Utilities and/or Consulting Entities servicing this area.
  • Good understanding of electric utility distribution planning, engineering, and operations.
  • Understanding of electricity transmission & distributed, Outage management, Crew Management, Mobile apps, and the controls associated with each.
  • Ability to utilize specialized utility system design and planning knowledge to produce moderately complex work products and solutions.
  • Capability to assess effectiveness of client's use of tools, applications, processes to adapt to new OT applications for solution areas such as ADMS/OMS/SCADA.
  • Ability to apply appropriate methods or recognized equivalent to identified client needs and anticipate/resolve technical problems with occasional technical assistance.
