Job Description: Sr. Consultant, Release Management, HFS - Individual Contributor

Summary:

The role involves working for Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services (HFS), a global fund administrator, specializing in complex hedge funds and alternative asset investments. The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to function as an effective and strategic leader/manager in a dynamic,fast paced,and demanding environment. This individual will have a strong technical background, experience working within the Technology industry and a proven track record ofsolving business problems. The role will be a key part ofour hedge fund administration business and will be visible tomany teams and partners.

This role is responsible for Release Management within HFS Omnium Change Management team. This team is responsible for coordinating changes ensuring stability for the Omnium Platform. TheRelease Management role works closely with the Product Owners and Development teams responsible forexecutingonproduct-focused visions aligned to Omnium business strategy - optimizing technology sequencing and delivery. The candidate will need to have the ability to support production releases which may be during standard business hours, afterhours, and/or weekends.

Major Duties:

  • Provide release related support for multiple Technology teams
  • Confirm that Fixed Versions are created in ADO and that User Stories are associated to the Fix Version
  • Coordinate with Release Management and Omnium Support teams for code deployments into INT and Production environments
  • Ensure that all test plan and approval/signoff documentation required for Production releases are uploaded into the Release Management tool
  • Plan and coordinate pre-release and in-flight release activities; including creating release runbooks (as needed), facilitate preparation calls with key stakeholders, and provide regular stakeholder status updates
  • Track release progress, manage risks, and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality
  • Complete post release activities such as the closure of INT and PROD ServiceNow requests and Release Management UI (Bi-Frost) package cleanup
  • Demonstrate leadership throughout the testing cycles; effectively lead meetings, drive agendas, set expectations, hold team accountable for results, be proactive on execution and follow-up on takeaways
  • Participate in release retrospectives monthly to identify lessons learned and to foster an environment of continuous improvement for testing and release management workflows
  • Identify broken processes and recommend process improvements to streamline and optimize delivery execution
  • Use sound judgement to escalate issues appropriately and timely, including solution options and associated impacts to drive effective decision making
  • Demonstrate critical thinking to anticipate and connect opportunities and resolve challenges / escalations.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration with others and high emotional intelligence to build productive and strategic relationships
  • Self-starter, performs independently with limited coaching, leads peers, and consults with shared services teams across HFS & NT to solve issues

Experience:

  • A College or University degree and relevant proven work experience
  • A minimum of 3-10+ years of experience; Agile, project coordination or release management preferred
  • Experience with Technology, Financial Services, or Alternative Asset Management specific a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile tools such as Atlassian and/or Azure DevOps or a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with theMicrosoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • Familiarity with project coordination tools and concepts
  • Familiarity and the ability to utilize formal Agile methodology and frameworks (Kanban and Scrum), principles, techniques, and values for the delivery of new and enhanced applications is a plus
  • A genuine desire and capability to work in a fast-paced, professional, inclusive environment which requires teamwork, well-honed problem-solving skills, frequent re-prioritization, deadline management, ongoing and comprehensive communication, constant attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement and best practices

Salary Range:

$83,100 - 141,300 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
